Generation 1

Isaiah Ledford

Isaiah Ledford born abt 1815 in Haywood County, NC. He died July 4, 1878 in Clay County, NC. Isaiah was married to Mary Barrett. Mary Barrett was born abt 1820 and died before 1870. She was the daughter of David and Elizabeth Barrett.

Isaiah Ledford and Mary Barrett had the following children:

1) Ann Elizabeth Ledford - was born on Feb 2, 1846 in Shooting Creek, (Cherokee County) NC and died on Feb 14, 1919 in Clay County, NC. Ann married David Moss (born abt. 1840). David was the son of Jefferson and Margaret "Peggy" Henderson Moss.

2) George Washington Ledford - was born April 3, 1848 in Shooting Creek, NC and died on March 15, 1932. He married Mary "Polly" Moss ( born abt 1845). She was the daughter of Jefferson and Margaret "Peggy" Henderson Moss. He is burried at Bethabaraalong with most of his known children.

3) Laura L. Ledford - was born abt. 1850 in Cherokee County, NC and died before 1860.

4) Nancy Louise Ledford - was born on June 18, between 1855/1857 in Shooting Creek, NC. Nancy died on November 6, 1947 in Madison Co. Ark. Nancy married George Henry Davenport on Aug 27, 1874. George Henry Davenport was born abt. 1851.

Generation 2

George Washington Ledford

April 3, 1848 - March 15, 1932

The son of Isaiah Ledford and Mary Barrett.

George Washington Ledford and Mary "Polly " Moss had the following children:

1) Elizabeth T.E Ledford - was born abt. 1869 and died before 1910. She was married to James Milton "Dee" Nicholson (b.1869- d.1930). After Elizabeth died; James married Ila Anderson Hogsed. ( They appear in the Town Co. 1910 Census) Notes for James Dee Nicholson: He lived into Tennessee before moving to Georgia. He had a brother named Hiram Nicholson who disappeared from Georgia and was never heard from again.

2) Henry Ledford - was born abt.1870 and died ? He married Mary Ann Martin in Rabun Co Ga on 2-13-1896. (They were married by by J E Derrick, JP - Bk E - Pg 14). (see below)

3) James Harmon Ledford - was born May 20, 1874 and died? He married Sarah Beth Anderson on 2-22-1895 Clay Co, NC. Sarah was the daughter of Robert A and Mary Anderson.

4) Buchannan Ledford - was born abt. 1876 and died ? He married 1) Sallie Maney in 1898 or 1899. Sallie was the daughter of Betts & Louise {Henson} Maney. He married 2) Mary Anderson Nelms (d. 2-16-1953).

5) Margaret Ledford - was born between 1883/1886 and died abt. 1970. She was married to Madden Patterson. (Madden was the son of Decatur and Mallison Emmeline McClure Patterson and the grandson of John and Amanda Spivey Patterson).

6) Ann Ledford - was born on June 6, 1877. She married Curtis Columbus (Kirt) Ledford on 2-26-1899 in Clay Co NC . (They were married by W W
Anderson, JP). Ann is living with her parents on the 1900 census. Curtis Columbus Ledford was the son of John Baker ( b.3-25-1850- d. 5-6-1923) and Amanda Talitha {Patterson} Ledford ( b.5-18-1854 - d.4-19-1934).

Generation 3

Henry Ledford

The son of George Washington Ledford & Mary "Polly" Moss.

Henry Ledford & Mary Ann Martin had the following children: (see below for other known children of Henry Ledford)

Earl Ledford - was a preacher- one known son Doyle Ledford.

Zeral Ledford - married a Parker.

Florence Ledford

Hettie Ledford was born on February 24, 1904 and died on October 11, 1920 . Hettie Ledford married Bon Berrong ,the son of William M. Berrong and Rose McNabb Berrong. Hettie and Bon had one child. A son, Nevert M. Berrong who was born on October 9, 1920. Nevert, was delivered at home by cesarean section; Hettie died two days later.

Additional Information On Hettie Ledford Berrong: After her mother died Hettie M. Ledford was raised by her Uncle, James Dee Nicholson. She is listed (age 6) in his household in the 1910 Towns County, Georgia Census.

 

Henry Ledford was married to unkown and had the following children:

Bessie Ledford - married Lee A. Burch.

Idah Ledford - married Charlie Parker.

Note: There may be more children of Henry Ledford and unknown. I have been told he was married several times. His last known residence was Marietta Georgia.
